~~~ Glancing at his wallet, the boy was surprised to see exactly how much his journey had cost. A majority of the money his father had so earnestly worked for had already gone, just like that. Well to be fair, having lived in the south and making their way to the north, without any pokemon, with only the bag on his back and the money in his wallet, he did have to use quite a bit of it. Placing the wallet back in his pocket, the boy sighed, tilting his head back to look up at the afternoon sky.
He had thought that once he reached Celadon Village he would finally be able to get started on his journey but no. How exactly was he supposed to know that the Laboratory was an extra mile away from the town? Shaking his head, he figured he was just a little restless from the long trip. Mix that in with excitement and a bit of nervousness and he was feeling a little strange. Getting up from the bench he was sitting on, he decided it was enough resting time and time to finish this final stretch before finally starting the journey.
Walking at a quickened pace, a smile began to form on his face as he spotted the lab in the near distance, a smile that only grew the closer he got. He was finally going to begin the league, become a master, become a hero and destroy the Garros kingdom. That was the dreamt up plan anyways. Sure becoming a pokemon master might take a little work but it was nothing he couldn't handle, it couldn't be that tough could it?
Jogging the rest of the way, his ponytail bumping up and down, he couldn't help his grin. It was a clear, sunny afternoon, he was beginning his journey, getting his first pokemon, how could you not smile? Slowing down as he reached the door, he took a moment to take a breath before slowly entering the lab.
[Gym Leader of Celadon Laboratory] When the young woman woke up that morning, she had an undescribable head ache; something that almost felt like it held meaning to it. She was rather moody all day, only expected with her head ache. The pokémon were rather frightened of her that day, she would snap at them any time they were making way to much noise. Normally, she was more tolerant of the noise.
There was a moment when the noises all went silent and she was able to sit at her desk with her head on the wood. She sat there in silence, not making any movements. Even though her head still hurt, it wasn't nearly as bad as it had been. She almost felt at peace in that moment. She felt comfortable laying there, even though it was clearly unpleasant. When the door opened, she remained that way.
She didn't even look up from the counter to see who had entered. Usually, she was only visited by trainer's who needed their starters. She laid still for a moment before lifting her head. Her hair was spread out over her face, making her look unpleasant. Her clothes were a bit messy, but she still looked professional anyway. "Yes?" She asked the boy.
[/blockquote] OOC; You can choose any pokémon as your starter as long as they are not on the legendary, endangered, or fossil list.
~~~ Stepping into the lab, the boy was amazed at his surroundings. He had never seen something quite like it, to him everything seeming luxurious from the couches and seats to even the plants and decorations, it was all something that made him realize that he truly was far away from home.
Gently shutting the door behind him, the boy glanced around at all the pokemon that scurried and played about. There were several pokemon around from a small rattata to a staravia which was making it's way to the... As the boy glanced up to count the stories the boulding had, he swallowed hard. The enormity of the place finaly sinking on, he couldn't help but smile. Sure he was a lon way away from the villages of the south but where he was, it just felt right. Turning his gaze back down o the pokemon, he realize something.
There were pokemon playing about quietly here and there yet they all seemed to avoid a certain place, as if they were fearful of getting close. From a distance, the mass of red hair appeared as some sort of pokemon to the boy, yet as he got nearer, he realized it was in fact a person. Most likely she was the one he was supposed to talk to about getting his starter he figured, seeing as they were the only humans there. walking towards her, he wondered what exactly his starter would be. Would he choose or did they just give any random pokemon to you? He didn't know and didn't want to think about it too much, he would be happy with any pokemon.
As he approached her, he watched her for a moments, pondering whether he should say something. "Uh I'm Lucas Reverde, I'm here to get my starter and join the Rosaceous league" he replied as the woman looked up at him. He was unfazed by her appearance, he gave a polite smile, nervousness and excitement bubbling up inside.

[Gym Leader of Celadon Laboratory] "Of course," Sarien turned her neck to the left and then slowly to the right, stretching her neck muscles. "Do we have any left?" She mentally asked herself as she stood up and walked over to a table leaning against the wall. The table had circular, curved grooves in it, specifically to hold pokéballs. There were three sitting in the table's grooves. Sarien clicked each pokéball's top, making them all pop open. Bright red lights beamed out of them and onto the ground to create three shapes. "You can choose whichever one you would like. Then, you must battle me to win your Rookie's Badge." Sarien watched the boy closely, wondering which one he would choose. Each trainer had a different method of deciding who they wanted. Some chose based on who they believed was the strongest or who they had the best compatability with or who they deemed worthy for their tream. The list went on and on.

~~~ Watching her as the red haired woman stretched her neck and made her way towards a table, Lucas realized that she was actually quite attractive which somehow made him feel even more nervous again as he felt his eyes unconsciously trace the figure of the woman. Wait what was he doing? Mentally slapping himself and shaking his head, Lucas turned back to the woman as three red beams of light flashed out from the table she was near onto the floor. Damn puberty.
Though whatever thoughts he had instantly vanished as soon as he realized just what had exactly materialized from the red beams. As he spotted the pokemon his face instantly lit up, unable to contain his excitement. Looking back up at the woman as she spoke, Lucas pondered for a moment which one he should exactly pick. There probably was no way he could have all three right?
Looking back down at the pokemon, Lucas's formed into a serious expression as he mentally tried to figure out which one he would pick. All three looked as if they would be good for starters and honestly Lucas was happy with any pokemon. However with most things, when theres a choice involved, it always makes things harder.
Looking at the pokemon on the right, he recognized it as a ralts, one that interested him greatly. He remembered hearing various stories and legends about heroic gallade and powerful gardevoir throughout various villages he had visited and had always wanted to have one on his team, they were definitely worthy of being a pokemon master's partner.
Turning to the pokemon in the centre, Lucas instantly knew it was a treecko. To him, treecko were also awesome pokemon, knowing full well how strong they can be, especially after receiving a pound from a cheeky treecko when he was younger. A family that he and his father befriended owned a pair of treecko which he would play with from time to time and he knew that they would grow into really strong pokemon.
As he looked to the last pokemon, it took him awhile before he was able to recognize it. Although this was the first time he was seeing one in real life, Lucas was able to recall that it was a drifloon. He didn't know much about it though it could be a challenge and learn a lot more about pokemon as well. Shouldn't pokemon masters be able to train and use any kind of pokemon? It was still tempting to him.
Glancing over the three pokemon one more time, he found his eye continually returning to the ralts. Unable to stray away from the feeling pokemon. "I think... No, I will choose the Ralts please." Lucas stated with a smile of confirmation. Yep this was going to be his first pokemon on his journey of becoming a master and defeating the Garros kingdom. Defeating, huh? At this Lucas instantly remembered something. "Wait, I have to battle you now with this pokemon I just received and haven't trained yet?" It was safe to say he was actually quite a bit surprised.
[Gym Leader of Celadon Laboratory] Sarien brushed her deep red hair behind her ear, the gold piercings shining against her ear lobe in the reflection of the light. It was a little odd for her when she was faced with teenagers; they made her uncomfortable. Though, she was able to brush that off, after all, her job required her to be active with young people. She hardly ever got to spend time with adults, unless they were coming to her laboratory to work with her or deliver starter pokémon. Sarien was an odd person in the sense that she saw more worth in pokémon than people. She believed all pokémon were born great with their abilities, while humans had to create their greatness.
Sarien picked up the pokéball that held the Physic Pokémon and handed it to the boy. "You two can go play now," She said to the other two pokémon, who quickly scurried away. "I'll be right back; you cannot move on until you have earned your Rookie's Badge." Sarien said, than walked into a back room to grab a pokémon to battle him with.
[/blockquote] OOC; PM me your pokémon's full information. You must fill out gender and nickname. Remove nickname if not desirable. If you wish to use a different sprite, replace the image of the sprite I have chosen. I suggest you only replace the sprite if it is because you want the pokémon to have a unique feature, such as an article of clothing or a birthmark. Also PM me the link to your character's Personal PC.
~~~ Holding the pokeball as if it was the most delicate thing on earth, the surprise of the battle was forgotten as Lucas stared at the sphere in his hands. It was actually his... He couldn't exactly believe it but he knew it was real and that his father would be proud.
Turning back to the red haired woman as she spoke, Lucas watched her as she walked away before turning his attention to his starter, squatting down before it. "So she's quite pretty don't you think?" Lucas asked his starter in an attempt to break the ice. Although he was squatting, Lucas was still taller his ralts, as such it still had to look up to him. Giving him a kind smile in an effort to show he ment no harm, Lucas didn't really expect much though still felt a little disappointed when his ralts hardly responded. The ralts looked up at him and did nothing else. Lucas couldn't make out any emotion in the ralts face, veing unable to tell if it had just a blank expression or a small smile or what. Unsure what to do they just stared at each other for a few moments before Lucas scratched the back of his head.
"So I should give you a name huh? How about Equinox? If he were to be honest, quite a large portion of the time he took to arrive to the lab Lucas kept thinking of to give his starter. He had come up with a few to match different types of pokemon but he just like the name 'Equinox' even if it didn't exactly match his pokemon but oh well, still sounded cool to him. The ralts appeared to nod slightly, which gave Lucas the impression that he either liked it or just didn't care what he was called. "Well I guess I'll tale that as a yes. Nice to meet you Equinox, I'm Lucas. Now, from what I know, all ralts start off with growl but I wonder if you happen to know any other moves perhaps?"
Tilting its head to the side was not the response that Lucas was looking for but he took it. For him in the moment any response was good. However as he thought about how to win his first battle without a damaging move caused him to sigh. No matter, a master should win no matter the situation right? Lucas believed he could pull something out of the hat, he had to, he was planning on becoming a master right?

[Gym Leader of Celadon Laboratory] Sarien returned to the room holding a pokéball with the rock cover. She was certain she had picked a pokémon suited well to test this new trainer and his Ralts. She was confident that she could prove him worthy with a rock and steel combination. If his Ralts could only use Confuse Ray, he would have to create a plan to trick the young Shieldon into attacking its self. "I will battle you outside. In order to earn your Rookie's badge, you must defeat me and the pokémon I chose against you." Sarien walked outside into the front yard. She tossed the pokéball, releasing the young pokémon and awaited for the trainer to make the first move. "Here we go," She mentally prepared herself.

~~~ As the woman returned, Lucas turned his attention to her. It was time to battle, time to test himself if he was good enough for this journey. He kept telling himself he had full confidence in his abilities though the fact that his pokemon did not have a single damaging move played on his mind. Well we would just have to see how it all goes then.
"Alright, then let's do this." Following the woman outside with his Ralts, he did his best to conjure up a battle plan. Taking note of the trees and shrubbery nearby, as well as the wall to the lab, Lucas figured his only plan was to use the surroundings to his advantage, make whatever the pretty woman's pokemon hurt itself. And on that thought, perhaps his Ralts happened to know a move that could confuse the opponent. Pokemon learn moves through breeding, so why couldn't his?
Walking towards the side of the yard near the trees, his mind could only rack up a handful of moves that could confuse a pokemon, even less that his Ralts could possibly know. As his Ralts followed them and moved into position, Lucas watched, somewhat surprised, as a Shieldon appeared, though it wasn't enough to deter him, he could still do this.
Eying the woman, he felt as if she was allowing him the first move. "Very well", he figured, "let's just hope this works." "Equinox, use Confusion" Lucas commanded his pokemon. When the Ralts looked at him as if it itself was confused, Lucas mentally facepalmed himself in embarrassment. "Eheh... I meant Confuse Ray?" He said in a hopeful tone. At this something seemed to trigger within the Ralts as it turned back towards it opponent, holding out its arms as it glowed faintly, charging an orb of light before firing it towards the Shieldon.
[Gym Leader of Celadon Laboratory] Sarien could not count the number of trainers who came in here and could not even win their Rookies Badge. Sometimes, she blamed herself, feeling she was too hard on them. Though, she never felt sorry for them for too long. After all, if she was the enemy, she would've killed them for losing. If they cannot beat her, they cannot beat the enemy; it was plain and simple. If anything, her beating them was a sign of protecting them from death.
The shieldon rubbed its foot into the ground, preparing for battle. Sarien had seen many interesting methods in which trainers beat her pokémon, that might seem impossible. The trainer shouted the command, and Sarien quickly took her chance. "Dodge it," Sarien mumbled, looking sadly at the opposing trainer. "He'll have to move faster than that..." The young shieldon rolled to the side, avoiding the beam. "He'll know the young creature's every move if he cannot be quick enough."
